What this Privacy and Cookie Policy Covers

Information Collection and Use

General

  • Yahoo! collects personally identifying information when you register for a Yahoo! account, when you use certain Yahoo! products or services, when you enter promotions or sweepstakes and when you visit Yahoo! pages or the pages of certain Yahoo! partners outside the branded Yahoo! network of websites.
  • When you register with Yahoo!, we ask for your name, email address, birth date, gender, post code, occupation, industry, and personal interests. Once you register with Yahoo! and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us.
  • Yahoo! also automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, Yahoo! cookie information and the page you requested.
  • Yahoo! uses information for the following general purposes: to personalise the advertising and content you see, based on the details given by you at registration and your activity at Yahoo!, fulfil your requests for products and services, improve our services, contact you, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients.

    Should you not wish to receive personalised advertisements while on the Yahoo network and/or on the Yahoo distribution network through which we distribute ads, you may need to disable cookies and/or opt out of off-network targeting. Please note, it is not possible to disable the cookie which is associated with your Yahoo account therefore, if you choose to log-in you may still see personalised ads.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

  • Yahoo! will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone.
  • Yahoo! may send personally identifiable information about you to other companies or people when:
    • We have your consent to share the information;
    • We need to share your information to provide the product or service you have requested;
    • We need to assist merchants on Yahoo! Shopping/Kelkoo to track visits to and business at their stores;

Cookies

  • Yahoo! may set and access Yahoo! cookie on your computer.
  • Yahoo! allows other companies that are presenting advertisements on some of our pages to set and access their cookies on your computer. Your Ability to Edit and Delete Your Account Information and Preferences

  • Yahoo! gives you the ability to edit your Yahoo Account Information and preferences at any time, including whether you want Yahoo! to contact you about specials, new products and for customer feedback.
  • You may request deletion of your Yahoo! account by visiting our Account Deletion page, verifying your password once more and confirming your choice to terminate the account. Posting on publicly accessible areas

  • A publicly accessible area is any area of Yahoo! that is accessible by the general public and may be indexed by search engines.
  • Yahoo! offers you the opportunity to post, submit and exchange content and information on publicly accessible areas, such as Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Message Boards and Yahoo! Answers.
  • You should exercise caution if you choose to disclose personally identifiable information in a publicly accessible area. Remember that this information may remain indefinitely in the publicly accessible area of the Service. Also, depending on the particular Service, other users may also be able to view two or more of your individual postings collectively.
  • You are solely responsible for any personally identifiable information that you disclose and disseminate on publicly accessible areas.
