Yahoo! by Phone
Yahoo! by Phone is a service that allows you to access voicemail, email, and Yahoo! content, over the phone. In order to use Yahoo! by Phone, you must be a registered Yahoo! user and have a Yahoo! Wallet and Yahoo! Mail account.
Information Collection and Use Practices
- When you sign up for the Yahoo! by Phone service, we ask you to choose a 10-digit number which will be both your Yahoo! Mailbox number and your Yahoo! by Phone account number.
- For additional security, we ask you to establish a 4-digit PIN number. We will ask you to enter this number in order to gain access to your voicemail, email, and content.
- We require that you set up a Yahoo! Wallet so we can automatically bill your credit card for this service.
- When you use Yahoo! by Phone, Yahoo! records usage information, including incoming phone number, services accessed, frequency of use and call duration. Usage information may be used to personalize the advertising and content you receive. In addition, Yahoo! may use aggregate usage information for future product enhancements and for research purposes.
Information Sharing and Disclosure Practices
- If you leave a voicemail message through 1-800-MYYAHOO and are not logged into the Yahoo! by Phone system, the telephone number that you dialed from may be visible to the recipient if the message is retrieved via Yahoo! Mail. You will have the option, when you leave the voicemail message, to make this information visible to the recipient or to block it. Yahoo! relies on external phone carriers for the accuracy of the caller ID information.
- If you are logged into the Yahoo! by Phone system, your mailbox number and name, as it appears in your Yahoo! account information, will be visible to the message recipient via their Yahoo! Mail account.
- If you are logged into the Yahoo! by Phone system when you leave a message, your email address will be populated into the To: field if the recipient of your message replies to you via their Yahoo! Mail account.
