Yahoo! Directory is a human-created and maintained library of web sites organized into categories and subcategories. It works with Yahoo! Search to help you find what you are looking for on the Web. You are not required to be a registered Yahoo! user in order to browse or search the Yahoo! Directory.
Information Collection and Use Practices
- Directory Search
- When visitors conduct a search on a site that uses Yahoo! Search Technology, including Yahoo! and alltheweb.com, we keep track of which search terms are popular.
- Advertising shown to you may be related to the search term you entered.

My Yahoo! offers the option to save a list of favorite searches. Those are saved, edited and accessed from your My Yahoo! page.
- Sponsor Results
- Sponsor Results consist of sites that have paid for placement in the search results. These listings are provided by Yahoo! Search Marketing. You will need to register for a Yahoo! Search Marketing account to purchase placement in the Sponsor Results.
- The Sponsor Results shown to you may be related to the search term you entered.
- The Sponsor Results may contain tracking URLs provided by Yahoo! Search Marketing to identify clicks from the search results page.
- Suggest a Site
- If you suggest a site to be considered for inclusion in the Yahoo! Directory, we ask you for some information about the site, your name and email address, geographical and time sensitive information if it is relevant to your site, and any comments you feel may be helpful to us in evaluating your site.
- We use your email address to notify you about whether your site has been included and may contact you in the future if we have questions about your site.
- Yahoo! Directory Submit
- If your site meets certain criteria, you can suggest it for expedited consideration to the Yahoo! Directory for a fee using Yahoo! Directory Submit.
- Yahoo! Directory Submit requires that you be a registered Yahoo! user and requests the same information as the standard web site suggestion process.
- To process your order Yahoo! Directory Submit also requires your credit card and billing information, and information about your company.
- Weekly Picks
- You can sign up to have Yahoo! Weekly Picks and Yahoo! Daily Wire emailed to you. Your email address will be used to email you the subscriptions that you specify.
- Ask Yahoo!
- If you use Ask Yahoo! -- a feature that allows users to ask Yahoo! any question of interest to them -- we ask for your email address, name, city, state, and for your question.
- You can choose whether you want Yahoo! to refer to you by first name or anonymously.
- You can sign up to have Ask Yahoo! emailed to you every Monday through Friday. Your email address will be used to email you the subscriptions that you specify.
Practices Regarding Your Ability to Update or Delete Information
- Directory
- To suggest changes to your Yahoo! listing or to edit the email address associated with your listing, fill out a change form.
- If you wish to have your site information or personal information deleted, complete the Suggest a Change form and request deletion of your site's information from our files.
- You can unsubscribe from receiving Yahoo! Weekly Picks, Yahoo! Daily Wire and Ask Yahoo! emails by visiting the Yahoo! Newsletter Subscriptions Manager
