Yahoo! Finance
Yahoo! Finance offers a wide variety of financial resources that anyone can access. To customize Yahoo! Finance and to take advantage of certain offerings, you must be a registered Yahoo! user.
Information Collection and Use Practices
- Stock Portfolio
- In addition to registration, if you would like to track a stock portfolio you will need to create a portfolio and, at a minimum, include the stock or fund ticker symbols.
- You can view this portfolio within Yahoo! Finance or from a number of other Yahoo! products and services like My Yahoo! and Yahoo! Messenger. Your stock portfolio ticker symbols are used to present the information you specify.
- Investment Challenge
- When you sign up for the Investment Challenge you are asked to choose your alias; enter your first and last name, address, and date of birth; and answer some additional questions. This information is only used to contact you if you win.
- Yahoo! Online Account Access Services and Yahoo! Finance Funds Transfer
- When you enroll in Yahoo! Online Account Access and/or Yahoo! Finance Funds Transfer, we will ask you for information about your accounts that you wish to view using Yahoo! Online Account Access or set up for funds transfer using Yahoo! Finance Funds Transfer. This information may include login information such as your user ID, password, PIN number, and account numbers that you ordinarily use to log into your bank or brokerage account.
- In order to present your financial information to you, Yahoo! receives that information from your financial institution or from our data service providers, Yodlee and CashEdge, in an encrypted format and presents it to you over a secure server, after linking your account information with your Yahoo! ID.
- Your account information will also be presented to you through your Expense Manager, Net Worth Statement page, and other financial products and services we make available to you. You can add or remove the accounts and other asset and liability details from these financial tools at any time.
- Login information is collected and used by your financial institution or our data service providers in order to access and provide to you your financial data or to transfer funds at your request. Yahoo! does not use login information except to create a default portfolio or to identify specific accounts for you. You can choose to edit the name of the default portfolio at any time.
- Yodlee is a data service provider that collects, consolidates, and organizes your account information. CashEdge provides the funds transfer services of Yahoo! Finance Funds Transfer by processing your funds transfer requests. Each service provider then sends the information to Yahoo! so that we can present it to you through financial products and services we make available to you.
- Information viewed via Yahoo! Online Account Access is regularly updated. Data (balances, account activity) will be periodically sent to Yahoo! so we can present this information to you from Finance or My Yahoo!. Yahoo! stores the encrypted data on our secure servers.
- Yahoo! Finance Premium Services
- When you sign up for a Yahoo! Finance Premium Service, Yahoo! will ask you for your name, address, city, state, zip code, and whether or not you are a non-professional or professional. Yahoo! collects this information to verify that you are eligible to use the service.
- You must have a Yahoo! Wallet in order to use Yahoo! Premium Services so we can automatically bill your credit card for the service(s) that you sign up for.
- In addition, the Real Time Quotes service requires you to agree to the NYSE and NASDAQ Exchange agreements. The NYSE agreement requires you to submit your employer name, position/title, employee function, and employer address. This information is collected by Yahoo! and held on behalf of the NYSE for at least 3 years as contractually required. Yahoo! may disclose personal information collected in connection with providing this service to the Exchanges to verify that users of the Real Time Quotes service are nonprofessional subscribers and eligible for the service.
- Yahoo! Bill Pay
- Yahoo! works with Checkfree, a bill pay service provider to bring you Yahoo! Bill Pay. In addition to registration information, the Bill Pay sign-up asks for other personal information such as your name, address, Social Security number, telephone number, and checking account information and transmits this information to Checkfree in order to provide you with this service. This information is requested over a secure server and is stored in an encrypted format.
- Once you have established your Bill Pay account, you can set up all your payees that you can edit or delete at any time.
