Yahoo! Music MusicMatch
Yahoo! Music Musicmatch provides the Yahoo! Music Musicmatch Jukebox, a downloadable music client, which allows you to organize and listen to music on your computer. You will need to be a registered Yahoo! user to use some features of the jukebox such as the On Demand music subscription service and Music Store.
The Musicmatch Privacy Policy continues to be in effect for most users of the Musicmatch service. For members who use the Musicmatch Jukebox version 10.1 or later, or who have converted their Musicmatch account and now sign in with a Yahoo! ID, this page describes current Yahoo! practices with respect to the Yahoo! Music Musicmatch products and services.
Information Collection and Use Practices
- The Jukebox automatically checks if updates are available. Certain basic information about your installed version of the Jukebox and components are sent during these checks including the software key and a unique identifier that allows us to distinguish between different computers using the Jukebox.
- Yahoo! collects personally identifying information when you register the Jukebox during the installation process to help create a customized user experience and contact you when updates are made available.
- You can change this information in the Jukebox by choosing: Help > User Registration > User Registration Info.
- Yahoo! collects billing and other personally identifying information when you subscribe to one of the Musicmatch services.
- Yahoo! collects information about the songs you listen to when you use the Jukebox to stream music from our servers, download music, and when you opt-in to receive personalized music recommendations. We collect this information for several reasons, including to better understand your music preferences, customize certain content, recommend music to purchase or play, and to provide our services.
- You can change your music personalization settings in the Jukebox by choosing: Options > Settings > General > Upload user preference information based on listening profile.
- The Jukebox sends information to Yahoo! about each of your sessions to help us identify issues, evaluate how our program is used and provide our services. Such information may include the following: version number; a unique identifier that allows us to distinguish between different computers using the Jukebox, Yahoo! ID, duration of session time; number of times you download a song.
- The Jukebox may send additional information to Yahoo! to better understand your music preferences, personalize certain content and to automatically identify what CD is in your computer. Information sent may include the song playing, your playlists and what CD is in your drive.
- If the Jukebox experiences errors, it will ask your permission to send an error report which includes relevant system configuration information, error messages, and a unique identifier that allows us to distinguish between different computers using the Jukebox. We use this information to help diagnose and resolve the problems.
- The Jukebox has an integrated web browser experience and uses cookies set through Internet Explorer to provide services tied to your Yahoo! ID such as customizing certain content.
Information Sharing and Disclosure Practices
- For licensing reasons, we send designated third parties anonymous track information about the music you purchase from the Music Store or listen to through Musicmatch Radio or Musicmatch On Demand. We may also send aggregated, non-identifiable information about our users' declared zip codes and gender to third parties.
- Yahoo! Music Musicmatch offers promotions that allow you to request information on a particular artist or sponsor. If you choose to receive information, your email address will be shared with the artist's representative or sponsor of the promotion. To learn how they use your information, please contact them directly. They are solely responsible for their use of this information.
Practices Regarding Your Ability to Update or Delete Information
- You can update your Jukebox software registration information in the Jukebox by choosing: Help > User Registration > User Registration Info.
- Billing
- Your Musicmatch Jukebox billing relationship is maintained separately from your other Yahoo! premium services. We are planning to combine our billing systems in the future.
- To view, edit or cancel premium services you have ordered through Yahoo! Music Musicmatch, including Musicmatch On Demand, go to your Account Settings page in the Jukebox and click the Edit Billing Info button.
- For all other Yahoo! premium services please visit: https://billing.yahoo.com. It includes information about services you currently subscribe to, payment scheduling and payment history.
- Communication with you
- Yahoo! Music Musicmatch communication is currently managed separately from your Yahoo! Marketing Preferences.
- You can choose whether or not to receive Yahoo! Music Musicmatch emails about software updates, product information, special offers and new music emails. If you choose to receive those emails, they will be sent to the email address that you specify.
- You can manage your Yahoo! Marketing Communication settings, including an option about entertainment, music, games, and sports, on the web by visiting: http://subscribe.yahoo.com/showaccount.
