myM Privacy Policy
myM is a new spin on traditional instant messaging. myM gives you the freedom to create your own themes, build fun emoticons and communicate with your friends across the networks you care about. You must be a signed-in Yahoo! user to use myM.
myM is part of the Yahoo! family of products and services.
Information Collection and Use
- You can add contacts to your various online networks via myM.
- Users you add or request to add to the contact lists of your various online networks may be notified depending on the service they are using.
- You may receive notifications that others have added or requested to add you to their contact lists.
- To access certain messaging features of your other online networks via myM, you must provide the login credentials for each online network.
- The login credentials that you provide will be stored in your myM account and used to authenticate your login and provide you the ability to access certain messaging features of your other online networks.
- If you access your online networks via myM, certain information included in your other online account(s) at the time of login will be collected by Yahoo! and available for use in myM.
- This information includes the contact list information.
- If while you are signed into myM you make changes to your online networks via another service, the changes may not be reflected until the next time you sign in to myM.
- You can upload a display image to your myM account that, by default, may be displayed to others when you communicate with them using myM.
- Your display image will be available for display and use across the Yahoo! Network in association with your various Yahoo! profiles and content.
- myM allows you to report abuse using the ‘report abuse’ links located throughout the site.
- When you file an abuse report, Yahoo! will automatically receive certain information including your Yahoo! ID as well as the location of the violation that you are reporting.
- You will need to provide your email address as well as the nature of the abuse you are reporting. Optionally, you may provide your name and any additional information regarding the abuse you are reporting.
- Your email address may be used to contact you regarding your abuse report, but will not be used for any marketing purposes.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
- You may choose to disclose personal information while using myM.
- If you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.
- When you sign into myM, certain information including your online status, display image and nickname may be visible to others on the networks that you have signed in to.
- If you sign into myM as ‘invisible’ you will appear offline to your Yahoo! contacts. however, you may appear online to contacts on other online networks.
- When using myM to communicate with your Yahoo! contacts, certain preferences that you set in the downloaded version of Yahoo! Messenger will be applied to your myM experience. This includes certain privacy preferences including stealth settings.
- The preferences you set in the downloaded version of Yahoo! Messenger do not apply to your other online networks. To learn more about how to set preferences on your other online networks, please refer to the help content of the service and/or network for which you would like to modify your preferences.
- If you block another Yahoo! user via myM, you may still receive messages from them if they communicate with you via another online network that you are accessing via myM.
- If you use myM to communicate with contacts on other online networks, you will be identified by your username associated with the online network that you are using to communicate.
- For example, if your Yahoo! ID is ‘joe’ and your AIM username is ‘joesmith’, you will be identified as ‘joesmith’ in your myM communications with AIM contacts. You will be idenitified as ‘joe’ in your myM communications with Yahoo! contacts.
Practices Regarding Your Ability to Update or Delete Information
- To remove the login credentials of your other online accounts, select the ‘Networks’ menu and then click ‘remove’ next to the account that you would like to remove.
- You can edit the settings related to your Yahoo! display image and Yahoo! stealth settings in the downloaded version of Yahoo! Messenger. Please refer to Yahoo! Messenger Help for more information.
- You can modify your list of blocked Yahoo! users by accessing the Ignore List preference in the downloaded version of Yahoo! Messenger.
- To modify the preferences of your other online networks (non-Yahoo!), please refer to the help content of the service and/or network for which you would like to modify your preferences.
