Yahoo! News Activity FAQ
1. How do you decide which articles I have “read”?
If you are opted-in to sharing your Yahoo! News activity, we will automatically share a link to the Yahoo! News articles you view.
2. Who will see my Activity?
Yahoo! News articles you read are shared with both your friends on Facebook and your Facebook friends on Yahoo! News.
3. How is my Activity shared?
Links to Yahoo! News articles you read will appear in your friends’ Facebook newsfeeds and in your Facebook Timeline, and your friends on Yahoo! News will be able to view your reading activity through the “Your Friends’ Activity” module.
4. How do I stop sharing my Activity?
You can turn off automatic sharing by clicking on the “Social” drop-down menu under “You on Yahoo! News” on the Yahoo! News page and selecting “Turn SOCIAL Off”.
Note: After you turn sharing off, your friends will still be able to see articles you previously shared in their Facebook newsfeeds and under the “Your Friends’ Activity” module of Yahoo! News. To remove a previously shared article from these feeds, open the “Your Activity” drop-down under “You on Yahoo! News” and click the X next to the article.
5. How can I keep a specific article from appearing in my reading activity?
If you want to read an article, but do not want to share this activity with your friends, you can turn sharing off prior to viewing an article by selecting Off from the “Social” drop-down menu under “You on Yahoo! News”. Remember to select On from the “Social” drop-down to resume sharing your reading activity.
If you have already viewed an article and wish to remove it from your reading activity, open the “Your Activity” drop-down under “You on Yahoo! News” and click the X next to the article. Deleting an article will also remove it from your Facebook newsfeed.
