Our guidelines, which supplement the Yahoo Community Guidelines, will help you understand how to best use your profile on Yahoo.
Things to Do:
Make the most of sharing
The more you share, the richer your interactions will be, so use all the features of your new profile to create the richest possible experience. Find those photos everyone wants to see, add them to your profile, and fill out your basic information and details. Create a blog, post a blast, add RSS feeds from content you create elsewhere on the Web, and share your Yahoo reviews.
Using your profile on Yahoo to share what's interesting and important to you is an easy way to stay connected with friends and family.
Enjoy your profile on Yahoo. Make new friends, see the world through other people's eyes, participate, and have fun!
There's a human being behind every profile you find on Yahoo. Please be respectful. Give your Yahoo connections the same consideration you'd give them in person, and treat them the way you'd like to be treated.
A bit of respectful debate is healthy! We all have the right to express our beliefs in a safe and respectful environment. Agree to disagree — respectfully — in the interests you list on your profile, in the interactions you have within blog comments, and in all other communications.
Moderate your content
If you’re unsure whether content is appropriate or consistent with the Yahoo Community Guidelines, these guidelines, or the Yahoo Terms of Service, please err on the side of caution and do not post it in your profile on Yahoo.
Take action if you’re offended
If you come across offensive content on a Yahoo profile, you have options. Leave the profile and don’t visit it again. Use the Block feature so you don’t receive further communications from the person. Remove the person from your Connections list, if the person is connected to you.
If you think a profile contains a violation of the Yahoo Terms of Service, click Report Abuse located at the bottom of the user’s profile, and report the content, behavior, or both.
Things Not to Do
Do not add photos, text, or other content to your profile that violates state, federal, or local law. Illegal content does not belong in our community. If you post it, we will deactivate your account and take appropriate action that may include reporting you to the authorities.
Do not upload photos, text, or other content that violates copyright or other intellectual property laws. You may post copyrighted content only with permission from the owner. Respect copyright law and the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of third parties.
Do not post content that is violent, racist, incendiary, or otherwise objectionable. This is a place for all people to feel safe and welcome.
Do not harass, abuse, impersonate, or intimidate others. Being a valued member of our community includes being considerate and respectful of others.
Do not use your profile on Yahoo to solicit or spam others. This includes selling goods or services and/or posting identical messages repeatedly to other members' blog comments, mailboxes, or other communication channels.
Yahoo's Response to Violations
Yahoo does not edit profiles, blogs, or other user-created content. But we reserve the right to remove content that we, in our sole discretion, determine is inappropriate and/or in violation of these guidelines or the Yahoo Terms of Service. You may risk deactivation of your Yahoo ID and everything associated with it, including email accounts, groups, posts, home pages, and profiles.
Your Responsibilities as a Yahoo Member
Use of your profile on Yahoo is subject to these guidelines and the Yahoo Terms of Service.
Yahoo reserves the right to modify these guidelines at any time.
